I had just finished my last game of the season when I noticed that my team’s colors were Kelly green and gold. Now, this isn’t a problem for me because I’m also Kelly Green and Gold! You know what they say about being in your natural element. But, if you’re not… well, there are other ways to be in your natural element.
The next day at school I went up to the nearest vendor who was selling these jerseys with an old-fashioned sewing machine on his cart, “Hey! How much do those football jerseys cost?” He looked at me skeptically before giving me a price that was way too high for how cheap it looks. “How about $15?” he said no again before
A few years ago, a man was walking through the mall when he found himself in front of a shop with custom jerseys. He was looking for something to wear to watch his favorite MLB team play and saw that they had baseball jerseys as well as other sports like basketball and football. He walked into the store and an employee greeted him. The man told the employee what he wanted: a Kelly green-gold split jersey for his favorite MLB team, Boston Red Sox. The salesman showed him all of their options and after looking at them all, he decided on one that could be customized with “BEN” across the back instead of “RED SOX”. Ben then connected his phone via bluetooth to show Ben’s name on the screen so
“I hate my team!” I exclaimed angrily, throwing my prized jersey onto the ground. “Why can’t they just be like the Red Sox?”
Seeing her favorite player’s face on a baseball jersey always made me happy- until now.
My dad tried to calm me down, but it didn’t work. He was an avid Yankees fan and he knew there was no point in arguing with someone that had already decided what they wanted their team to be.
That’s why when I saw this purple shirt with green sleeve stripes at the store he took me to buy new clothes for school, I seemed so mad…

I looked in the mirror and saw my reflection. My green scrubs with a gold stripe down the side. I smiled at myself because I was about to start my third year of residency, and this would be one of many days where I had to work over 12 hours. I thought about changing into something more comfortable like yoga pants or sweats but then decided that it really didn’t matter if they knew how long we work here anyways. When you’re wearing your green-gold split baseball jersey, people know what they’re getting when they come in for an appointment!
Emma looked at the custom Kelly Green-Gold Split Baseball Jersey and sighed. She knew it was her last chance to impress the coach enough to make the team, but she didn’t have money for this item. The girl’s mom had died when Emma was 10 years old and left no life insurance or savings, so they were still struggling as a family of four on one income. Emma clenched her teeth in anger because she knew that if she couldn’t get this jersey, she wouldn’t make it onto the team – not even close!
“This is the worst feeling ever!” I grumbled as my fingers grasped the zipper of my new custom jersey. “How was this even supposed to work?” I think aloud to myself, talking like a typical adult who has no idea how anything works. The fabric didn’t feel right against my skin and it felt tight in all the wrong places.
I tried not to get too angry at myself for making such an expensive mistake but after minutes of struggling with it I finally gave up and threw it on top of pile of clothes that had never seen the light of day again since they were put away after last summer’s crop went out into their respective closets or dressers or wherever else people store clothes when they are done wearing them.
I’m sprinting down the side of the stadium, my cleats making a sharp sound against the concrete. I have two outs in this game, and they’re both runners on first. One more out would give us our fifth win in nine games so far this season. It’s been ten years since we’ve seen that many wins in one year, but with me batting .352 through 18 games, anything is possible.
The runner on third tags up after his base hit to deep right field scored him from second base. Now there are runners at second and third for my last batter with two outs. Up to bat is Matt “Big” McDanner – he’s 6’5″ and 230 pounds of pure muscle who
